Redemption Chambers is a General Common Law set, where barristers practice in a number of different areas of law which are:
Family Law, Criminal Law, Immigration, Employment, Contract, Commercial, Contentious Chancery (such as Probate), Insolvency, Regulatory Work, Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Work, Nursing and Midwifery Council Disciplinary Hearings, Council Tax and Non-domestic Rating Law. We also appear in Mediation and Arbitration matters, and in the Court of Protection.,

 

  • Facing criminal charges in the Magistrates or Crown Courts.

  • Our barristers also act for clients in the High Court and Court of Appeal Criminal Division.

  • In relation to Immigration and Asylum matters, our barristers act for clients at all levels, from the First Tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum) to the Court of Appeal.

  • In relation to Council Tax and Rating, our barristers act for clients in the Magistrates Court and Appeals to the Administrative Court, and at the Rating Tribunal.

  • In connection with Civil Cases, our barristers appear in the County Court, the High Court, the Court of Appeal Civil Division, and occasionally in the Privy Council.

  • In connection with Family Law matters, our barristers act for clients in the Family  Courts, the High Court and the Court of Appeal.Family Division, and Court of Appeal Civil Division.

Ashitey Ollennu is a highly experienced and effective Barrister with an extensive Common Law practice and regularly appears in the Crown Courts, the High Court, the Court of Appeal and has had a number of cases in the Privy Council and Court of Protection.

He has been a leading junior counsel in serious civil cases, e.g. actions against the Police, actions involving solicitors’ negligence, actions against banks, partnership disputes, disputes arising from leasing of commercial aircrafts, contentious probate cases, employment tribunals and landlord and tenant disputes. He is frequently instructed in family cases appearing in cases of international child abduction, regularly appears in care cases, financial remedy cases, and private law children cases. His experience in criminal cases extends to murder, criminal fraud, serious drug offences, offences involving serious violence, cases of rape, child abuse and other sexual offences. He has specialist knowledge and experience in Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal cases and SRA matters, and also the Nursing and Midwifery Council Disciplinary Tribunal. During his career, spanning more than 40 years, he has come to see himself foremost as a specialist advocate who is highly skilled in conducting a wide range of work and who is frequently consulted by colleagues to advise them on their work.

Professional Memberships: Criminal Bar Association, Family Law Bar Association, and a Member of the Ghanaian Lawyers Group UK. He is a Member of the London and South-Eastern Circuit.

In his spare time he is a keen choral singer belonging to a number of choirs, such as the Highgate Choral Society, The Royal Free Hospital Music Society, and the Bar Choral Society.  He was a serious cricket player, but now an enthusiastic cricket supporter as a Member of the MCC and Hornsey Cricket Club.
